about

Claudia Almandoz Gerbolini is a Peru-born, Mexico-based visual artist whose work exists at the threshold between photography and painting. Using her own body as both medium and inquiry, she creates self-portraits that are less about identity and more about inner states of being.

Through natural light, physical filters, long exposures, and movement, Almandoz transforms the camera into a tool for exploring the unseen. Her images emerge from shadow and ambiguity, touching on themes of faith, despair, alchemy, and the quiet tension between presence and absence.

Her practice is rooted in self-exploration rather than representation. Each image functions as a visual meditation—an attempt to give form to what is felt but not easily named.

With a background in Art History and Interior Design, Almandoz’s work reflects a deep sensitivity to space, symbolism, and the emotional weight of light.
